I'm in love again I'm a dead man now I'm a severed vein I'm a project I'm in love again I'm a story song I'm alive and well I'm an object
2.
(Instrumental)

I was late To catch my breath You won't wait Until you see death I was late To catch my breathe You won't wait Until I'm dead And I sang My last shepherd's song By the lake At the break of dawn And you whined Like a creaking wind But I cried Just to let you win It was dark And my eyes were blurred But your heart Made the sounds I heard And we strained Just to reach the path To find the stone Where we first sat Someone once told me not to wait But I chronicly do Am I patient to a fault Or am I just scared
4.
I am the repetitive rhythm of a morning undone Tapping my toes the basic beat that's spilled on my floor Clean it up Pick it up And she watches 6/8 time bars going by And she catches D.C. al Coda before it is over And you're scared, but I'm with you. 3036 That's my number Come up whenever you want I will be there Just remember I'm not forever I'm not Just like the first time You saw your reflection In the waters of Nama Up in Delta County Twenty yards from the shore Still only knee-deep The fish swimmin' 'round your cold feet
5.
In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan, Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone; Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow, In the bleak midwinter, long ago. Angels and archangels may have gathered there, Cherubim and seraphim thronged the air; But your mother only, in her maiden bliss, Worshiped her beloved with a kiss. What can I give you, poor as I am? If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb; If I were a wise man, I would do my part; Yeah what I can I give you: give my heart.

Lost Ponds 03:04
My night is like a lost cause Lost ponds with jasmine and plum To overlook them all My night is like a soft call Of "that's all" from midnight to dawn To shelter them all My night is often dead gone Palm fronds distinctly dead wrong Decidedly against them all Keep me inside Keep me on this side Of my lost ponds Oh night, you little mistress Stopped short of mystery, danger To save me from them all
7.
South Africa 02:38
Down Down the coast Down we walked Collecting stories forgotten by our tongues You were older and I was not You were ready to tie the knots To hold together The fabric we've woven Don't you worry It won't be stolen Tell the story And don't Don't you be afraid No one was lying when they told you That they'd be dying just to meet you And I I walked away from you To South Africa 'Cause I know people there Who make things with their hands You'll be stronger Recording songs They can't remember The words so long That you can't forget them No matter how long you try my dear They'll just keep on ringing in your ear Down Down the coast Down we walked Collecting stories forgotten by our tongues You were older And I was not You were ready
8.
You Are Dead 03:16
Outside the age of bitted staging There's a man who lies broken dead and waiting For the things to come After the zero ones Have fallen from this pitted daydream And if a face so pitted all in aging He knows that the world is done uncaging And he is sunk From all that's drunk Before you know it you are dead And if I am alone now Who will know to stand down Who will keep me interested When I lose all that I have invested
9.
All I Wanted 01:49
She's sorely littered All torn and dry She's super scattered Before the high I lost my mission Hooked on the sky I crossed decision You, me and mine All I Wanted All I Wanted Let's make a moment Out of this word Let's stick to cement Don't draw the bird If you are holy Don't cross your heart Or pretend to show me Your wicked parts All I Wanted (Whatchu want, John?) All I Wanted (Whatchu want, John?) All I wanted in this moment was to hold you but you left me
10.
Happy birthday Don't you worry No one's here to Take your last year away But every birthday Is a new beginning Gotta take what you've been spinning And let it play I don't believe It ever works To pull your hair out Even if your head hurts So please take pity On misunderstandings It's not easy on this side either Try to catch your breath sometimes Cuz maybe there's a reason Today we stop and stay with you Instead of seein' the season
11.
Past 04:35
The clocks are chiming in my heart Their cobweb chime; Old murmurings of days that die, The sob of things a-drifting by. The clocks are chiming in my heart! The stars have twinkled, and gone out Fair candles blown! The hot desires burn low, and wan Those ashy fires, that flamed anon. The stars have twinkled, and gone out.
12.
Every heart that is beating Is a fist pounding on a door And we're screaming And we're screaming Let me in Let me go Oh my god I need something And the ones that stopped beating Weren't the ones that gave up They're the ones that got free I want to be free I want to be the marrow in my bones When my marrow turns to mud So I can dance in that blessed river Flowing through a sacred earth In the heart of the heart Of the diamond in the rough In the heart of the heart Of the diamond in the rough Every heart that is beating Is a fist pounding on a door And we're screaming And we're screaming

about

"Madison’s Pushmi-Pullyu has evolved over the years from a sparse electronic-pop solo project to a full-band vehicle for John Kruse’s wandering, frequently morose songs. The five-piece comprises Kruse on keyboards, glockenspiel and vocals; Corey Murphy on keyboards; Luke Annear on drums; Tom Teslik on guitar; and Sam Ludwig on saxophone. Stream the band’s first album, Never Love A Stranger, for free in its entirety until its release on July 2. The album is available through Mine All Mine Records, and the band will celebrate with a July 24 show at the Memorial Union Terrace." - Arts Extract (Scott Gordon, Madison, WI)
